Launch: Today

In an effort to offer up a more interesting and regular blog I announce my intentions to publish bi-weekly, Wednesdays and Saturdays.  No doubt you suspect that with the New Year rapidly approaching this is merely a feeble attempt to accomplish at least some of my goals from last January.  How shallow of you.  Do you think so little of me?  It’s no secret that a little bit of discipline can do you good.  I’m only on the look out for self-betterment.*

With this in mind I present a selected reading list of material recently tackled.**

Memoir from Antproof Case – If you haven’t read any Mark Helprin yet, count yourself out of the loop.  A must read for any Gabriel Garcia Marquez fans.

The Jungle – Read in conjunction with Devil in the White City, more to learn the history of Chicago than for any outstanding literary merits.

Fast Food Nation – When will I become a vegetarian?  We can only keep guessing.

The Coast of Utopia – Can you go wrong with Tom Stoppard?  Probably, but I’ve yet to.

*this blog comes with the standard caveat of the phlegmatic: “no guarantees.” You must also take into account that I do not currently have the internet in my apartment.

**all books are recommended, with Memoirs probably the highest on the list.
