Here is the caterpillar which lives in our garden and eats the carrot greens. Methodically it works its way down one stem and up another.

The garden has been a success of sorts though a failure in other important ways. Stalks of basil are way up and the tomatoes have been creating value daily whereas the squash, peas, and broccoli all seem to have 'gone under.'

I found an old food processor under the counter in the kitchen and have been putting it to good use with the mountains of basil out back.

Special pesto recipe:

lots of fresh basil
a few cloves of garlic
pine nuts
extra virgin olive oil

blend it all for a minute or so and serve tossed with farfalle.
for pesto rosso (a favorite of my old dutch roomate) just add a cup of sundried tomatoes

This is really an amazingly quick and easy dish to make and all of your friends will be rather impressed with your culinary prowess and european taste.
