Devastation - The Besnard Lakes
I listened to this album all last winter and am still waiting for them to go on tour again. This video is surprisingly Guernicaesque.
JULIE DOIRON - Heavy Snow
Look who has a new album coming out next month. It is supposed to be less melancholic and more 'rocking' than previous work.

Hosting
As a rather frequent host of parties as of late I've come to appreciate good guests. Here is a list of things I like:
1.) Someone from the suburbs comes into the city for your party
2.) Friends of friends show up 'cause it's the place to be (and they have a ball)
3.) People dress up for the party - really there's nothing like someone coming to the door in a suit or dress
4.) Someone flies in from out of town for the party (ha! don't think it hasn't happened)
5.) Dancing, dancing, and more dancing
6.) Good food
7.) Any party that ends with a trip to the Russian Bath House (no this is not a euphemism)
